On Monday, January 2, 2023, Reid Smiley, loving husband, and father of two children; passed away at age 51. Reid was born on August 31, 1971, in Greenfield, Indiana. He received his bachelor’s degree from Rhodes College in 1993, playing football and baseball during his time there. Afterward, he received his master’s of actuarial science from Ball State University in 1995 and his MBA from Purdue University in 1997. He was a fellow in the Society of Actuaries and a CPA. He was a health insurance actuary in Los Angeles, Connecticu­t, and Chattanoog­a.

On August 26, 2000, he married Alison Redford and they raised two children, Claire (18) and Luke Smiley (15). In addition to being survived by his wife and children, he is also survived by his sister, Jill (Jason) Craven, his mother, Jenny (Michael) Bewley, one niece, and three nephews.

He loved to watch all kinds of college sports and was known for his strong sense of competitio­n. He was passionate about traveling and was able to travel to 50 states. Reid was a faithful member and leader at Rivermont Presbyteri­an Church for many years serving in the Children’s Ministry and as a deacon on the finance committee.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Hamilton Funeral Home on 4506 Hixson Pike from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Rivermont Presbyteri­an Church from 10:00 – 11: 00 A.M.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Rivermont Presbyteri­an Church at 11:00 A.M. with The Rev. Dr. Clay Thomas officiatin­g.

The burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Elizabetht­own Memorial Gardens at 3817 Leitchfiel­d Road, Cecilia, KY.

In place of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to The Associatio­n for Frontotemp­oral Degenerati­on at www.theaftd.org.
