Gaudin takes over in booth for Braves
ATLANTA — Brandon Gaudin, the former voice of Georgia Tech broadcasts, was selected as the new play-by-play announcer for the Atlanta Braves on Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast.
Gaudin replaces Chip Caray, who on Jan. 30 was named the television playby-play voice of the St. Louis Cardinals, following the path set by his grandfather, National Baseball Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Caray. Chip is the son of the late Skip Caray, who called Braves games for parts of four decades.
Gaudin has called MLB, NFL, college football and college basketball games for Fox Sports and the Big Ten Network for the past seven years. He has remained an Atlanta resident since calling football, men’s basketball and baseball games at Georgia Tech from 2013-16.
A native of Evansville, Indiana, he also serves as the play-by-play voice of the “Madden NFL” video game series for EA Sports, having done so for the past seven editions.
In a Bally Sports release announcing the move Thursday, Gaudin said moving to the broadcast booth with the Braves “is the realization of a childhood dream.”
“I get to be behind the mic for the team I grew up idolizing,” Gaudin said. “And the team who fostered my love for both sports and broadcasting. I’m grateful to both the Braves and Bally Sports for this incredible opportunity. I cannot wait to work alongside this team and talented broadcast crew.”
Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast, described Gaudin as “the perfect fit for what we were looking for as the new voice of the Atlanta Braves” on the regional networks.
Derek Schiller, the CEO and team president of the Braves, said the franchise has had “a legendary lineup of broadcasters throughout our history and we are excited to find someone who is familiar with our past from growing up a Braves fan and respecting those who came before him.”
