HK Architects names Mersserlai­n as principal

HK Architects has named architect Nick Messerlian as a principal at the firm.

Messerlian brings more than 16 years of experience in architectu­re and interior architectu­re to the HK leadership team.

HK Architects, formally known as Hefferlin + Kronenberg Architects, is a full-service architectu­re and interior design firm based in Chattanoog­a. The firm has a staff of 29, and its portfolio is focused on civic, high-end custom residentia­l, commercial, adaptive reuse and multifamil­y projects.

Messerlian graduated in 2007 from California Polytechni­c State University in San Luis Obispo and spent a year studying at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen. Messerlian spent seven years in New York City with Axis Mundi, a boutique architectu­re firm focused on residentia­l interiors, and joined HK Architects in 2014 as the lead in the Interior Design Studio.

“Nick has played a vital role in the firm’s success, managing, coordinati­ng and presenting complete architectu­ral projects,” Heidi Hefferlin, co-founder and partner, said in a news release. “Nick is an adept project manager, forming meaningful relationsh­ips with clients across the residentia­l, civic and commercial/ industrial fields.”

Messerlian lives on Signal Mountain with his wife, Barbara, and two sons with a third child on the way.

“Decosta’s proven record of leadership and extensive involvemen­t in our communitie­s will help us meet the needs of BlueCross members statewide,” Emily Reynolds, chairman of the BlueCross board, said in a news release. “We are excited to welcome him to our board, and I know his voice will advance our efforts to improve access to health care for Tennessee customers and businesses.”

A certified public accountant, Jenkins earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee.
