Would you pay $33K for four nights in a Coachella festival yurt?

- BY GEORGE VARGA

SAN DIEGO — It remains to be seen if Frank Ocean’s Sunday headlining performance at Coachella includes “Super Rich Kids,” his 2013 song from the soundtrack to the film “The Bling Ring.”

But having money to spare may come in very handy for attendees at the festival — which takes place Friday through Sunday and April 21-23 — at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.

This year’s edition will see the debut of Coachella’s Safari Residence. Its new, studio-style accommodations cost $15,000 for two per weekend and includes a pair of guest passes and various VIP amenities.

By comparison, the festival’s “glamping” Safari Campground tents for two are a relative bargain at $11,000 each. (The tents cost $4,500 for two when they debuted at the festival in 2008.)

But those who really want to splurge may opt for The Resort at Coachella luxury yurts. Priced at $32,000 for two — up from $25,000 in 2017 — the yurt package includes an array of enticing amenities.

How many amenities? Here’s the rundown.

› A four-night stay in a fully furnished modern yurt that includes A/C, power outlets, lighting, a minifridge pre-stocked with your choice of food and beverages, towels, linens, seating, a full length mirror and more.

› Two three-day artist passes to Coachella’s 2023 weekend one or two, including access to the festival’s artist compound and artist catering for gourmet breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

› Two yurt wristbands for exclusive access to The Resort at Coachella areas, Safari campground and Safari Lounge.

› A personal golf cart driver and concierge to assist you all weekend long.

› Access to VIP amenities and shared guest viewing areas within the festival.

› Breakfast served to your yurt each day and nightly gourmet Outstanding in the Field dinner reservations for two people.

› Locking doors and 24-hour security on the Safari campgrounds.

› A restroom and shower private to your group.

› Airport transportation to and from Palm Springs or Thermal.

› Spa treatments and massages in your yurt or at the nearby La Quinta Resort and Club.

› Daily maid and turn-down service.

› A Coachella 2023 merchandise pack.

› House car service for your group’s off-site needs.

› And, of course, free Wi-Fi!

All yurts are sold out for Coachella this weekend, but some are still available for the festival’s second weekend. How many yurts are there? “We don’t disclose that information,” said a representative for Valley Music Travel, the company behind the festival’s upscale VIP package options.

For the record, the yurts are not the most expensive option for Coachella attendees.

“We have our Platinum Experience packages,” said the representative, who declined to disclose how much they cost but allowed that they could include staying in a mansion.

“You create the Platinum packages,” the representative said. “The price depends on what you include.”
