Months after Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge Gary Starnes told a reality TV star he “would not hesitate” to send him to jail, Ryan Edwards appeared on a probation violation Thursday and has been ordered to serve time in custody.

What was supposed to be a status hearing for the 35-year-old cast member of MTV’s “Teen Mom” became a sentencing date after he appeared before Starnes and was ordered to serve a year in custody after violating the conditions of his parole.

“Defendant has been served with a petition to revoke probation for failing to complete rehabilitation and a petition to revoke probation for picking up (a) new DUI and possession of a controlled substance,” court documents said.

Starnes had given Edwards, who had a GPS monitoring device and was out on $55,000 bond, an 11- month, 29 day suspended sentence on the condition that he enter a rehabilitation program in Austin, Texas, for 45 days.

“Defendant’s counsel conceded that defendant did, in fact, violate his probation,” court records stated.

Starnes also ordered Edwards to stay off social media and to not contact his wife, Mackenzie Edwards, who has filed for a divorce.

Earlier this month, Ryan Edwards was arrested by Chattanooga police and charged with a DUI and possession of a controlled substance, according to court documents.

Edwards was arrested Jan. 24 after allegedly violating probation and again on Feb. 10 for allegedly violating an order of protection after Mackenzie Edwards reported to the Hamilton County Sheriff ’s Office that her husband had posted revealing photos of her to his Instagram account and made threatening phone calls to her, according to a sworn affidavit from the Sheriff’s Office seeking Ryan Edwards’ arrest.

Edwards is scheduled to appear before Starnes on the charges of possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence and harassment June 12.
