UT remains SEC’s overall best program for athletics

Tennessee is not leaving its perch atop Southeastern Conference athletics.

After winning the SEC All-Sports Trophy for the first time last year, Volunteers and Lady Vols teams have repeated the feat and taken one step further by topping both the men’s and women’s standings. Tennessee’s overall title last year was comprised by the men finishing first and the women finishing second to Florida.

Tennessee was followed in this year’s SEC All-Sports Trophy standings by Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, South Carolina, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Missouri. Tennessee, Florida and Alabama were the top three men’s programs, while Tennessee and Florida were followed by Georgia in women’s sports.

“I’m so proud of our studentathletes, coaches, staff and all the fans and donors who support us,” Tennessee athletic director Danny White said through a release. “This is a team accomplishment, and everyone plays an important role. We are just getting started on Rocky Top, but this early success gives us the confidence to keep building!”

The SEC All-Sports title is presented by the USA Today Network.

Tennessee swept the SEC softball regular-season and tournament championships and posted topthree finishes in football (second in the East Division), men’s cross country (second), women’s swimming and diving (second), men’s tennis (second), men’s swimming and diving (third), women’s basketball (third), men’s golf (tied for third), soccer (third), women’s tennis (third) and men’s outdoor track and field (third).

Florida has won the SEC AllSports Trophy 28 times, with its last coming in 2017-18.
