LAFAYETTE - James Lee Morgan (Jim) was called to his heavenly home on Friday morning, June 9th at his residence in LaFayette Georgia at the age of 91.

Jim was born on October 3rd, 1931 in Chattanoog­a, Tennessee. His parents were Lester Morgan Sr & Marjorie Reed Spence. Jim and his siblings lost their father Lester at a very young age. They were raised by Fletcher Spence who was an incredible man & father to them all.

Jim graduated from Red Bank High School in 1950. Later that year he joined the United States Air Force where he served from 1950-1954 during the Korean War with the rank of Staff Sargent.

After his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, Jim went to work for South Central Bell and retired in 1991 with over 36 years of service.

Jim married his wife Betty in 1957 and they were together for over 60 years. Jim enjoyed watching The University of Tennessee Athletics, Atlanta Braves Baseball, was an avid fisherman and member of the Lions Club along with other civic organizati­ons.

After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Betty and all their grandchild­ren.

Jim was proceeded in death by his wife, Betty Morgan, Lester Morgan Sr (Dad), Marjorie Reed Spence (Mom), Fletcher Spence (Dad), Lester Morgan Jr (Brother), Doris Mabry (Sister), Charline West (Sister), Charles & Ethel Reed (Grandparen­ts), Shirley Hampton (Daughter), Mike Booth (Son-In-Law)

He is survived by his daughter, Connie Booth of Chattanoog­a; son, Jay (Jenny) Morgan of LaFayette, Georgia; his grandchild­ren - Michael Booth, Matthew Booth, Morgan Booth, Meredith Booth, Sophie Hampton, Jeremy (Beth Anne) Booth, Josh (McKennah) Morgan, Jacob Morgan, Jon Morgan, Jillian (Austin) Laatsch & great granddaugh­ter, Taylor Booth.

The family would like to give special thanks to Jo & Sonny Crawley for being the best friends and neighbors anyone could ask for Jim & Betty.

Also, special thanks to Rosalind and Rachelle along with the entire staff at Tapestry Hospice of North Georgia specifical­ly Angel, Cassie and Madison who all helped with his care over the past several months.

Visitation times will be Wednesday, June 14th from 5:00-7:00 and Thursday, June 15th from 10:30-11:30. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 with burial at the Chattanoog­a National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
