Alma Louise Burnette Boyer, wife, mother, and teacher, age 96, died Monday, July 31, 2023 after living an interestin­g and varied life centered around her family, friends, and teaching career.

She is survived by three children, Robert (Pat) of Chattanoog­a, Jenni Fletcher (Marty) of Rocky Face, Georgia, and Benjamin (Felicia) of Signal Mountain, along with grandchild­ren Lindsay, Abigail, Sara, Benji, and Andi and five great grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Lee Boyer and her parents, Fred T. and Malta O. Burnette.

Alma was born in Hazard, KY, March 17, 1927. After a couple of moves with her family, they settled in Bowling Green, KY, where she met Frank. She held a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Western Kentucky University. DuPont brought Alma, Frank, and their children to Chattanoog­a in 1965. When Frank left DuPont to teach at the University of Chattanoog­a in 1967, Alma became the science teacher at the Senter School. Following a number of years there, she taught chemistry and biology at Notre Dame until her retirement. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Chattanoog­a.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:30 am prior to an 11:30 am memorial service at First Baptist Church, 401 Gateway Avenue in Chattanoog­a on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Arrangemen­ts are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanoog­a Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
