Freeman promoted to new vice president role at EPB
EPB directors Friday promoted
Evann Freeman to vice president of government and community relations for the city-owned utility.
Freeman, who previously worked for former U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander and serves on a variety of community boards, joined EPB in 2019 as director of government relations. In his new position, Free- man will lead EPB’s government relations and economic development efforts for both EPB’s electric service and its fiber optic services, which include a new quantum network designed to bring technology research and business to Chattanooga.
“Evann does a wonderful job of working with leadership from all of our stakeholders to keep our work coordinated and aligned with our partners, so we can work together on efforts that benefit our customers,” EPB President David Wade said in a statement Friday.
Freeman pointed to HCS EdConnect powered by EPB as an example of a collaboration of EPB with local governments to provide free internet service to any student who qualifies for free- or reduced lunches at school. HCS is short for Hamilton County Schools.
“Knowing that HCS EdConnect now provides internet to more than 28,000 people in need is a great example of why working for EPB is so meaningful to me,” Freeman said in a statement Friday.
A Chattanooga native, Freeman serves on the boards of the Urban League, Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club, Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Chattanooga Tourism Company.
