Donna Worthington

Donna Jean Jones Worthington age 82, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024.

Donna was born in Newport , Pennsylvania, on July 28, 1941, the daughter of the late Jacob Adam Jones and Helen Viola Heisey Jones. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing from the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Her first job was with the Pennsylvania Children’s Hospital. Then, Donna proudly served children as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force at Carswell AFB Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She retired from the University of Texas John Sealy Hospital as the emergency room charge nurse. Afterword, her love was being a mother to her children. She was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and was former secretary of the Bible Study Fellowship. Donna and her husband served on twelve medical mission trips and loved traveling together. Donna also enjoyed art, design, and cooking.

Survivors include her husband, J. Mack Worthington, MD, to whom she was married on May 5, 1974; two daughters, Julie Worthington, MD, PhD and Christy Worthington Darr (Chris); son, Josh Worthington, MD (Erin); and two grandchildren, Adam and Lauren Worthington

Graveside service will be Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2 p.m., Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Heritage Ful neral Home.
