Man arrested for possession of controlled substances and other drug paraphernalia
Local authorities arrested an Oxford man on drug charges recently after he allegedly tried to hide something in the woods. Agents were on a motor vehicle accident scene at the time.
Arrested, according to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, was Jahmaad Q. HIll, 25, who was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and attempting to elude a police officer.
According to a press release from Sheriff Shaver, Corporal Nick Vaughn and Deputy Sheldon Estes, on Saturday, Oct. 8, responded to a motor vehicle accident on Cherokee County Road 29 in rhe Rock Run Community. A man involved in the accident appeared to hide somethign in the woods along the roadway.
Deputies searched the area and found synthetic marijuana, also known as “spice”. When confronted, the suspect attempted to flee on foot by was apprehended by Deputy Estes, the press release stated.
Hill was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center, the press released stated.
