Man ar­rested for pos­ses­sion of con­trolled sub­stances and other drug para­pher­na­lia

Lo­cal au­thor­i­ties ar­rested an Ox­ford man on drug charges re­cently af­ter he al­legedly tried to hide some­thing in the woods. Agents were on a mo­tor ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent scene at the time.

Ar­rested, ac­cord­ing to Chero­kee County Sher­iff Jeff Shaver, was Jah­maad Q. HIll, 25, who was charged with un­law­ful pos­ses­sion of a con­trolled sub­stance, un­law­ful pos­ses­sion of drug para­pher­na­lia, re­sist­ing ar­rest and at­tempt­ing to elude a po­lice of­fi­cer.

Ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease from Sher­iff Shaver, Cor­po­ral Nick Vaughn and Deputy Shel­don Estes, on Satur­day, Oct. 8, re­sponded to a mo­tor ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on Chero­kee County Road 29 in rhe Rock Run Com­mu­nity. A man in­volved in the ac­ci­dent ap­peared to hide some­thign in the woods along the road­way.

Deputies searched the area and found syn­thetic mar­i­juana, also known as “spice”. When con­fronted, the sus­pect at­tempted to flee on foot by was ap­pre­hended by Deputy Estes, the press re­lease stated.

Hill was trans­ported to the Chero­kee County De­ten­tion Cen­ter, the press re­leased stated.
