System concerns w ith block schedule
Retention -a. Students take a full year of a class in one semester.
-b. Many months may pass before they take the next course in the sequence or before they take important tests like the ACT, resulting in more time to forget what was learned. Time lost - a. Less total time is spent on core classes in typical block programs simply because one 90-minute class has 10 percent less time than two 50-minute classes.
-b. Spending less time on math, English and other core courses contributes to the watering down of content.
