Grove Oak man ar­rested with coun­ter­feit money

Lo­cal law en­force­ment agents, on Tues­day, March 14, ar­rested a Grove Oak man who al­legedly at­tempted to pass coun­ter­feit money. Ar­rested was Todd O. Jackson, 41.

Ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease from Chero­kee County Sher­iff Jeff Shaver, Lees­burg Po­lice Of­fi­cer Jimmy Deberry and Sher­iff’s Of­fice In­ves­ti­ga­tors Shawn Rogers and Jeremy Stepps re­sponded to a busi­ness in Lees­burg on Tues­day and dis­cov­ered the sus­pect was at­tempt­ing to pass coun­ter­feit U.S. cur­rency.

Agents took Jackson into cus­tody and was trans­ported to the Chero­kee County De­ten­tion Cen­ter. He was charged with crim­i­nal pos­ses­sion of a forged in­stru­ment in the first de­gree, the re­lease stated.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors re­cov­ered coun­ter­feit money from the sus­pect and his ve­hi­cle, Shaver said.
