‘Wherefore comfort yourselves together’

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. (1 Thessalonians Ch. 5 verse 11).

Only the Lord Jesus through His Holy Spirit knows how to comfort and console those suffering with tragedy and heartache. Every family will sooner or later face difficult or even devastating days.

And when tragedy involves a child it can cause a breakdown in relationships between loved ones and relatives. But that’s not the way it needs to be. That’s not God’s way.

Even in the most difficult of times and troubles we can grow closer together to each other when we comfort each other with the knowledge and love of Jesus. Our God of all compassion promises to all who know Him, the comfort of knowing that one day Christ will return for us, and we will live with God and our saved relatives forever.

Sure, we’re going to grieve and be sorrowful for departed loved ones, but through the love and grace of God we can rest assured and have the peace that only God can give if we know that we know His Son, Jesus.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. And so shall we be with the Lord. (Ch.4 verse 14 & 17b).
