AUBURN — Auburn Univer­sity’s James I. Har­ri­son School of Phar­macy held its Spring 2017 com­mence­ment cer­e­mony on Tues­day, May 10 at Auburn Arena.

The class of 2017 in­cluded 153 stu­dents re­ceiv­ing the Doc­tor of Phar­macy de­gree. Three stu­dents re­ceived Mas­ter of Sci­ence de­grees, and seven oth­ers re­ceived Doc­tor of Phi­los­o­phy de­grees.

The class in­cluded rep­re­sen­ta­tives from five for­eign coun­tries, in­clud­ing China, In­dia, Saudi Ara­bia, South­ern Africa and Ukraine, and 16 states, in­clud­ing Alabama, Alaska, Cal­i­for­nia, Florida, Ge­or­gia, Illi­nois, Louisiana, Mary­land, Mississippi, Mis­souri, New Jer­sey, Ore­gon, Ten­nessee, Texas, West Vir­ginia and Wis­con­sin.

Among the Pharm. D. grad­u­ates was Sand Rock na­tive Matthew Cole. A 2010 grad­u­ate of Sand Rock High School, he is the son of Tracy and Mary

Cole, and the hus­band of Ash­ley Cole. Be­fore en­rolling in phar­macy school, he re­ceived a bach­e­lor of sci­ence de­gree in biomed­i­cal sciences from Auburn Univer­sity in 2014.

Cole has ac­cepted a PGY-1 Res­i­dency at the Cen­tral Alabama Veterans Ad­min­is­tra­tion Health Care Sys­tem.
