NFL camps to start on time

-

The NFL informed teams that their training camps will open on time.

League executive Troy Vincent sent a memo to general managers and head coaches Saturday to tell them rookies are to report by Tuesday, quarterbacks and injured players by Thursday and all other players by Tuesday, July 28.

The NFL and NFL Players Association still are discussing testing for the coronavirus and other health and safety protocols. Union leadership expressed several other concerns, including the number of preseason games to be played and the players’ right to opt out of the season, in a 90-minute conference call with reporters Friday.

Still, under the collective-bargaining agreement the parties approved in the spring, the NFL can impose reporting dates.
