While we obsess over the fourthyear pro’s every move, Bears-Lions will be just a rumor to the rest of the country as the No. 4 game on Fox in the noon time slot. The 91% of viewers who get Packers-Vikings, Eagles Washington or Seahawks-Falcons won’t know what they’re missing.
Bigger picture: As the NFL plows into Week 1, it’s surrounded by questions about how players will stay safe in a pandemic, how teams will look after no preseason games and how fan-free football will come across on TV.
But there’s another storyline of considerable scale that presents itself, and this one is all about quarterbacks. Over the week to come, it’ll be screaming right in our faces.
Tom Brady, 43, will make his Buccaneers debut against Drew Brees, 41, and the Saints. That game immediately follows Bears-Lions, in case you’re so inclined. How could you not be?
The Cowboys’ Dak Prescott has a Sunday-night date with the Rams. Prescott recently opened up about the depression he felt even before his brother’s suicide in April.
