Robert R. Krilich Sr., of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, left our world at 90 years young and peacefully entered everlasting life on March 4, 2021, surrounded by family. The world lost a vibrant and brilliant man who was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, cousin, uncle and friend.

Bob was a Chicago native who endured struggle during the depths of the depression, which spurred his drive and determination his entire life. As a teenager, he dropped out of high school and began a lifetime career that began in carpentry, then home building and eventually a successful real estate developer.

He began building his career and family with his first wife, Lillian, residing in Glenview and then Barrington, Illinois, sharing six children, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Later in life, he traveled the world with his devoted second wife, Donna, and their cherished pup, Sam “E” BuBala.

Bob was a passionate visionary and a savvy deal maker with a zest for living large. His contagious energy inspired those who surrounded him, and his quick wit and hot temper kept everyone aligned and on their toes. He relished time with family, delighted in the great outdoors, golfing, skiing and boating. He enjoyed working hard, lavish dining, travel and watching an exciting game of football. He was honored for the recognition of his good works and named Man of The Year, receiving the “Spirit of Life Award” by The City of Hope. His faith in God provided enormous solace throughout his life. The world lost a colorful, fiery, irreplaceable character who indisputably achieved the American Dream. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Anne (Gaydos) Krilich, his first wife Lillian, and his sister Janice Sorensen.
