Golladay signs with the Giants

Those hoping the cap-strapped Bears would find a way to add a significant offensive player — and a local kid at that — were disappointed Saturday when the best receiver on the market, Kenny Golladay, signed with the Giants.

He agreed to a four-year, $72 million deal, with $40 million in guarantees, per NFL Network.

The St. Rita and NIU alum met with Bears coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace on Wednesday night before flying to New York on Friday.

Not coincidentally, Bears receiver Allen Robinson signed his franchise tender late Thursday. Golladay’s signing could cost the Bears down the line, too — Robinson will ask for more than the former Lions standout received in a long-term deal.

Pairing Golladay with Robinson would have given the Bears their best receiving duo since Alshon Jeffery teamed with Brandon Marshall.

New home for Fuller

Cornerback Kyle Fuller agreed to sign a one-year deal to play for the Broncos shortly after the Bears officially cut him Saturday, a source confirmed. He’ll make $9.5 million, per NFL Network, after originally being set to make $13 million in 2021 base salary — with a $20 million cap hit — with the Bears.

Fuller will reunite with Broncos coach Vic Fangio and defensive coordinator Ed Donatell, former Bears coaches. The Bears will try to replace Fuller with veterans, including Desmond Trufant, who signed Saturday.

This and that

The Bears’ signing of defensive tackle Angelo Blackson was made official.

† Free-agent outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu, who started five times for the Broncos last year, visited Halas Hall.
