5th-round pick Borom lauds Fields
The Bears’ fifth-round draft pick Saturday already knows one of his new teammates. Missouri offensive tackle
Larry Borom spent part of the offseason training alongside quarterback Justin Fields at Proactive Sports Performance in Westlake Village, California, near Los Angeles.
‘‘[Fields is] a hard worker,’’ said the 6-4, 322-pound Borom, who started 16 games at right tackle for the Tigers in the last two seasons. ‘‘He’s going to do extra. He’s not the guy that is going to be trying to rush out of the room. He’s going to do a lot more than everyone else.’’
Borom, 22, said he feels a ‘‘ton of excitement’’ to play for the Bears — and with Fields.
‘‘As a person, he’s a real friendly, goofy guy,’’ Borom said. ‘‘He’s an old[-school] person at the end of the day. He’s caring, he’s helpful, he’s looking to help people any chance he can.’’
Undrafted free agents
The Bears agreed to add 10 undrafted free agents, five on each side of the ball.
The offensive list features Coastal Carolina running back
C.J. Marable, Stanford tight end Scooter Harrington,
Mississippi State offensive lineman Dareuan Parker, Northwestern offensive lineman
Gunnar Vogel and, according to the Houston Chronicle, Clemson offensive lineman Gage Cervenka. On defense, they added Stanford defensive lineman Thomas Schaffer, Stony Brook defensive lineman Samuel Kamara, Temple defensive
lineman Daniel Archibong, Virginia linebacker Charles
Snowden and Houston Baptist linebacker Caleb Johnson.
