The popular “Monty Hall” probability question first appeared in 1990 (and again in 2016) and has befuddled readers for decades. It goes like this: You are given three doors to choose from. Behind one is a car and behind the other two are goats. After you’ve chosen one but haven’t opened it, game show host Monty reveals the location of a goat from behind one of the other two doors.
