Ask Marilyn

- By Marilyn vos Savant

FLASHBACK Marilyn vos Savant, who holds the Guinness World Record for the highest recorded IQ, began answering readers’ questions in 1986 and has graced many Parade covers.

The popular “Monty Hall” probability question first appeared in 1990 (and again in 2016) and has befuddled readers for decades. It goes like this: You are given three doors to choose from. Behind one is a car and behind the other two are goats. After you’ve chosen one but haven’t opened it, game show host Monty reveals the location of a goat from behind one of the other two doors. If you want the car, should you stick with your original choice or switch? Go to Parade.com/mvs to find out.
