Fire coach gets his first victory
Stanislav Ivanov scored in the first half and Jonathan Bornstein in the second, and Ezra Hendrickson earned his first victory as coach of the Fire with a 2-0 triumph Saturday against D.C. United in Washington.
It was the Fire’s first victory — and their first two goals — in three games this season. They previously had played to scoreless ties at Inter Miami and against Orlando City FC at Soldier Field.
Ivanov scored in the 32nd minute and Bornstein in the 80th. Gabriel Slonina made two saves for the Fire.
