Mets trade for right-hander Bassitt

-

The Mets acquired right-hander Chris Bassitt from the Athletics for minor-league right-handers J.T. Ginn and Adam Oller. Bassitt was 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA last season and was named to his first All-Star Game.

In mid-August, Bassitt was struck in the face by a 100 mph line drive off the bat of White Sox outfielder Brian Goodwin. He had surgery to repair three facial fractures and was back on the mound just more than five weeks after being hospitalized.

◆ Multiple outlets reported the Blue Jays and free-agent left-hander Yusei Kikuchi agreed to terms on a three-year, $36 million contract. Kikuchi was 6-11 with a 5.46 ERA last season with the Mariners, who declined their option on him.

◆ The Rangers traded shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who was supplanted by the blockbuster addition of Corey Seager in free agency last fall, and minor-league right-hander Ronny Henriquez to the Twins for catcher Mitch Garver.

◆ The Nationals agreed to terms with veteran reliever Steve Cishek on a one-year contract worth $1.75 million, according to MLB.com. Cishek, 35, has pitched for seven teams in his 12 big-league seasons, including the Cubs and White Sox.
