Man shot, critically wounded in ‘armed confrontat­ion’ with McHenry Co. deputies

A person was shot and critically wounded by officers during an armed confrontat­ion Friday night in far northwest suburban Harvard.

About 8 p.m., McHenry County sheriff ’s officers were called for a wellbeing check at a home in the 19900 block of Streit Road when a male came out of a home with a gun, according to a statement from the sheriff ’s office.

An “armed confrontat­ion” ensued between the person and deputies, who opened fire, police said. The person was struck and critically wounded. The deputies weren’t hurt.

The wounded person was taken to Mercy Harvard Hospital and then flown to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, police said. He was still in critical condition Saturday.

The McHenry County Major Investigat­ion Assistance Team is investigat­ing the shooting.

Teen critically hurt in Hyde Park shooting

A 16-year-old boy was critically hurt in a shooting Saturday afternoon in Hyde Park. The teen was on the sidewalk about 3 p.m. in the 800 block of 54th Street when someone shot him in the chest, Chicago police said.

Man killed after argument in Palmer Square

A man was killed Friday night after an argument in Palmer Square on the Northwest Side.

The man, 22, was on the sidewalk in the 2100 block of North Bingham Street about 11:30 p.m. when two males opened fire after an argument, Chicago police said.

He was shot in the chest and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name hasn’t been released yet.

Man charged with robbery in Lawndale

Jose Macias, 25, has been charged with a felony count of armed robbery, according to Chicago police.

Macias was taken into custody Wednesday, after being identified as the person who allegedly robbed a 42-year-old woman with a dangerous weapon Feb. 24, in the 1900 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Lawndale on the West Side, police said.
