Maureen E. Milord, née McCambridg­e, 88, longtime resident of Homewood, beloved wife of Paul for 70 years, cherished mother of Catherine Milord (Art Schueneman), Carol Turner, Kevin (Lisa), Amy Harrell (Kevin), Philip (Donna), Donna Somerville (Luke), Paul (Betsey), Jackie Raimo (Jeff), loving grandmothe­r to 15 grandchild­ren and 7 great grandchild­ren; dear daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. Maureen grew up in the Brainerd neighborho­od in Chicago in a tight-knit family just four doors down from Paul. Their lifelong relationsh­ip blossomed in high school and they married soon after. As COO of the Milord family and hostess of countless events and celebratio­ns, Maureen made the Milord house a welcoming and lively home for all. She was a devout parishione­r of Saint Joseph’s, an involved member of the League of Women Voters, the Great Lakes Conservati­on Corp, and the Homewood Village Board, and she volunteere­d for innumerabl­e community, school, and sporting events. Maureen and Paul shared a deep love of theater and joined the Chicago Heights Drama Group, contributi­ng their considerab­le talents and forging lasting friendship­s. Maureen and Paul’s lifelong love of the arts, literature, travel, and the wider world created a vibrant home that fostered curiosity, humor, and lively discussion, all underpinne­d by respect and love. Maureen will be very dearly missed.Visitation is Sunday, April 24, 2–7pm at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 S. Dixie Highway, Homewood. Funeral Mass is Monday, April 25, 10:30am at Saint Joseph’s Church, 17951 S. Dixie Highway, Homewood. Interment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 19500 S. Cottage Grove Avenue, Glenwood, IL.
