2 WOMEN HOSPITALIZ­ED IN ‘PLAYPEN’ BOATING INCIDENT

Two women were hospitaliz­ed following a boating incident Saturday afternoon in Lake Michigan near the Gold Coast neighborho­od.

Emergency crews responded to a call of people in the water about 5 p.m. in the no-wake slip often referred to as “the Playpen,” Chicago fire officials said.

Both women were taken to Northweste­rn Memorial Hospital in seriousto-critical condition, fire officials said.

Authoritie­s have not released any additional informatio­n on the incident.

Man killed in Back of the Yards

A man was shot to death early Saturday in Back of the Yards on the South Side.

Just after midnight, the 21-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 5200 block of South Honore Street when someone opened fire, Chicago police said.

He was struck in the torso and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

His name hasn’t been released.

Man shot to death in North Lawndale

A man was found dead early Saturday in North Lawndale.

He was located unresponsi­ve with a gunshot wound to the chest about 5:17 a.m. outside in the 3900 block of West Fillmore Street, Chicago police said.

No arrests were reported.

Man shot, killed while driving in Washington Heights

A man died Friday night after he was shot while driving in Washington Heights on the South Side.

About 10:38 p.m., the 38-year-old man was driving westbound in the 500 block of West 95th Street when a person fired a gun from the sidewalk, Chicago police said.

He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was taken to Christ Hospital, where he died, police said.

No one was in custody.
