November 25, 1947 – August 5, 2022. Margaret Diane Valadez (nee Vargas) passed away peacefully on the afternoon of August 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Her passing comes in the aftermath of complicati­ons in her recovery from coronary bypass surgery and a long battle with kidney disease. Born and raised in southeast Chicago, Illinois, “Margie,” as she was affectiona­tely known by family and friends, was one of eight children born to Michael R. Vargas, Sr. and his wife Socorro Vargas (Nee: Salas). She was educated first at Our Lady of Guadalupe and later at St. Michael’s High School. She worked in office administra­tion for most of her adult life, including many years at Waste Management, finally retiring from Torvac, Inc. She was married for over fifty years to Gerardo “Harry” Valadez, Jr. (October 6, 1939 – August 30, 2020), raising a son, Mark, living for many years in south suburban Calumet City before relocating to Orland Park. In recent years, Marge and Harry had begun spending most of their time in southern California, where their son had relocated, working in the film and TV industry. In addition to her son, Margie leaves behind one brother, Michael, and sisters Mary Lou, Gloria, Liza, and Christine, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerardo, brother John, and sister Jenny.
