6-year-old girl wounded in Englewood shooting

A 6-year-old girl is recovering after being shot Saturday night in West Englewood, according to Chicago police officials.

About 6:30 p.m., the girl was standing near the street in the 7200 block of South Racine Avenue when she was hit in the arm by gunfire, police said. She was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where she was listed in good condition.

Twelve children have been shot in Chicago in the last week, according to SunTimes data.

No arrests have been made.

Man’s body recovered from ‘Playpen’ in Lake Michigan

A body was recovered Saturday from Lake Michigan in an area known locally as the “Playpen,” officials said.

The man’s body was recovered about 5 p.m. from the lake near the 1000 block of North Lake Shore Drive, according to Chicago police. He has not been identified.

Authoritie­s have been searching for a man who was presumed to have drowned after he fell from a boat in the area Wednesday.

Earlier this week, police and fire officials urged people to “please be responsibl­e” after three apparent drownings occurred in the area within two days, which followed a horrific accident last weekend when a woman’s legs were severed when a boat backed into a raft she was on.

5 wounded, 3 critically, in Washington Park shooting

Five people were wounded in a shooting early Saturday in Washington Park on the South Side.

Just after midnight, officers responded to a call of shots fired and found several people were shot in the 6200 block of South Michigan Avenue, Chicago police said.

A woman, 40, and two men, 32 and 38, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

A 31-year-old man was struck in the thigh and a 32-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the mouth. Both men were in good condition.

There was no one in custody.

4 people shot in front yard of home in Back of the Yards

Four people were shot early Friday while standing in the front yard of a home in the Back of the Yards.

The four were attacked about 12:10 a.m. in the 5200 block of South Green Street, Chicago police said.

◆ A 17-year-old girl was grazed in the thigh and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition, police said.

◆ A 28-year-old woman was shot in the face and transporte­d to the same hospital in good condition.

◆ Another woman, 41, was struck in the buttocks. She was transporte­d to the hospital in good condition.

◆ A man, 28, was taken to Mercy Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

No one was in custody.
