Udell-Loman, Laverne M.

LaVerne M. Udell-Loman (nee Hlavachek) Age 91. Oak Lawn resident for over 65 years. LaVerne was born and raised in Sheboygan Falls, WI. to Charles and Anna (Rappel) Hlavachek. Graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1949. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Udell in 1951 who preceded her in death in 1978. Bob and LaVerne had four children; Randal (Betty), Roberta (Ken) Herrmann, Laurie (Hussein) Ziada, Mary (Chuck) Pollard; Eleven grandchildren: Daniel (Lindsey) Udell, Sheree Flanagan, Brian O’Halloran, Bridgette O’Halloran (Sergio Angel), Adam Ziada (Brittany Smith), Jacob (Lyndsey) Ziada, David (Jenny) Ziada, Deanna Ziada (Dan Barnes), Maggie Pollard (Andrew Hogan), Katie (Jordan) Wiles, Bob (Emily) Pollard; and eleven great-grandchildren; Jazmyn, Preston, RaeLynn, Elijah, Brynlee, Isla, Davey, Connor, Gabby, Dominic, and one arriving soon. LaVerne had the great fortune to marry Lawrence Loman, whom she was married to for 20 years. Larry preceded her in death in 2013. Also preceding her in death were her parents, sisters Edith (Robert) Ehrenreich, Sister Anthony Marie Hlavachek OSF, and sister-in-law Beatrice (William) Woods. LaVerne was an aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and friend to many. Serving as Music Director, LaVerne was a fifty year employee of the Archdiocese of Chicago. LaVerne enjoyed playing cards with friends and family (she preferred to win), travel, and playing golf. In addition, she was an avid fan of the Packers, Bulls, and Sky. LaVerne was strong-willed, determined, and proud of living independently at age 91. Whoever was important to her family was important to her. “You gotta eat somewhere.” She will be greatly missed. Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, January 2, 2023, from 2pm to 6pm at Thompson & Kuenster Funeral home with a Celebration of Life service at 6pm. thompsonkuenster@comcast.net 708-425-0500.
