Fire earn draw, thanks to Brady

Chris Brady made five saves, and the Fire salvaged a point with a 0-0 tie Saturday against Atlanta United in Major League Soccer action at Soldier Field.

The Fire (2-4-4) didn’t have a shot on goal, but Brady kept Atlanta off the scoreboard, too. His best save came on a header by Daniel Rios from the center of the box in the 85th minute.

Atlanta’s Thiago Almada also had a prime scoring chance, but he hit the post from the center of the box in the 79th minute.

♦ Sophia Smith, a standout on the U.S. women’s national team, scored in the 10th and 26th minutes to lead the Thorns to a 2-0 victory against the Red Stars (3-2-1) in National Women’s Soccer League play at SeatGeek Stadium.

Bucks’ Lillard doubtful for Game 4; Giannis, too

Bucks guard Damian Lillard had an MRI exam to determine the severity of his strained right Achilles and is listed as doubtful for Game 4 of the team’s first-round playoff series Sunday against the Pacers in Indianapol­is.

The Bucks, who trail the series 2-1, have played without two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokoun­mpo (strained left calf) all series. He is listed as doubtful for Game 4, too.

♦ LeBron James scored 30 points, Anthony Davis added 25 points and 23 rebounds and the host Lakers beat the Nuggets 119-108 to avoid being swept in their first-round playoff series.

Nikola Jokic had a triple-double with 33 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists for the Nuggets, who still lead the series 3-1.

Fierceness installed as Derby favorite

Fierceness was named the 5-2 morning line favorite for the 150th Kentucky Derby next Saturday at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, and will look to make history as the first entrant to win in 45 attempts from the No. 17 post position.

The Todd Pletcher-trained colt enters the 1¼mile opening leg of the Triple Crown races off a dominating 13oe-length rout in the Florida Derby last month at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida.

♦ Zach Blair and Patrick Fishburn combined to shoot a 12-under-par 60 to take a one-stroke lead over Luke List and Henrik Norlander after the third round of the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans. They completed 54 holes at 23-under 193 in the better-ball tournament.

♦ Kyle Busch turned a fast lap of 162.191 mph to win the pole for the NASCAR Cup Series race Sunday at Dover (Delaware) Motor Speedway.
