Setback for Gary casino on land

Chicago Sun-Times - - News -

INDIANAPOLIS — Gary’s plans for a land-based casino were dashed Tuesday night when an Indiana Senate panel erased language from a bill that would allow riverboat casinos to move ashore.

Mayor Rudy Clay pinned hopes on a land-based casino at Interstate 65 and Inter- state 94.

State Sen. Earline Rogers, the Democrat championing the cause for her hometown, voted against the amendment. But she voted to send the new version of the bill to the Senate floor with a vow not to “wimp out” early in the game. Post Tribune
