No unbeatens aftermurra­y falls

Tennessee State ensured that no Division I team will go undefeated after knocking off No. 9 Murray State 72-68 on Thursday.

Robert Covington had 17 points and eight rebounds for the visiting Tigers (16-10, 9-4 Ohio Valley Conference). Isaiah Canaan had 31 points and six rebounds for the Racers (23-1, 11-1), who had been the last unbeaten in D-I.

Jordan Taylor scored 27 points in his first college victory in his home state, and No. 21 Wisconsin (19-6, 8-4 Big Ten) gutted out a 68-61 overtime victory at Minnesota (17-8, 5-7).

The Badgers failed to score over the last seven-plus minutes of the second half while the Gophers dug out of a 13-point hole. Butwiscons­in went 15-for-17 from the free-throw line in overtime.

Troy Huff scored 25 and North Dakota (11-12, 3-3 Great West) won on the road for the first time with a 75-69 victory against Chicago State (2-21, 1-5). Lee Fisher scored 18 to lead the host Cougars. Ardarius Simmons had 14 and Matt Samuels 13 points and eight rebounds.

James Hollowell scored 17 and Eastern Illinois (10-14, 3-9 OVC) snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 74-57 victory at Tennessee Tech (16-10, 8-5).
