Ozzie swears he’s done with Twitter

Ozzie Guillen has bad news for his 230,927 Twitter followers. He says he has posted his final tweet.

Guillen, the outspoken Miami Marlins’ manager, said Thursday, “I hate Twitter. I don’t need the aggravatio­n ... so many nasty people.”

He announced on his @Ozzieguill­en Twitter account his departure in English and Spanish by saying “my last tweet. me ultimo tweet good luck buena suerte.”

Guillen, 47, says he advises his followers to follow Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison. Guillen says Morrison is “more fun” and “has better stuff than me.”

Brandon Beachy (5-1) threw a five-hit shutout to lower his major-leaguebest ERA to 1.33 as the host Atlanta Braves beat the Marlins 7-0.

Lawrie opts to drop appeal

Saying he wants to move on, Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie, 22, has dropped his appeal of a fourgame suspension for throwing a batting helmet that bounced and hit an umpire.

Jose Bautista and J.P. Arencibia each hit two-run homers as the host Blue Jays posted a 4-1 victory to sweep a two-game series from the New York Yankees.

Andrew Mccutchen homered twice and James Mcdonald struck out a career-high 11 while taking a no-hitter into the sixth to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates past the host Washington Nationals 5-3.
