Marshall will not be charged
The lawyer for Brandon Marshall says no charges will be brought against the Bears wide receiver for an altercation outside a New York nightclub in March.
Harvey Steinberg says Marshall won’t be charged after a woman filed a complaint that he punched her in the face outside Manhattan’s Marquee club. Steinberg says: “We maintained all along he is a victim and there is no basis to believe these charges.”
A spokesman for the New York City Police Department says they still are investigating the complaint. in 2010-11 in Renney’s first season with the team.
Dwight King scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period, Jonathan Quick made 18 saves, and the host Los Angeles Kings rolled to the brink of their first Stanley Cup final in 19 years with a 2-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. The Kings lead the Western Conference finals 3-0.
Djokovic moves on in Rome
Top-ranked Novak Djokovic overcame a poor first set and a smashed racket to beat Juan Monaco 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 and reach the Italian Open quarterfinals in Rome.
Also through at Foro Italico were five-time Rome champion Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Serena and Venus Williams and French Open champ Li Na.

Pettersen out in Match Play
Defending champion Suzann Pettersen didn’t last long at the LPGA Sybase Match Play Championship in Gladstone, N.J., and neither did three well-known Americans.
The third-ranked Pettersen was eliminated 3 and 1 by relative unknown Jodi Ewart of England in the first round, while Paula Creamer, Brittany Lincicome and Michelle Wie lost to some equally obscure fellow Americans.
Creamer, the No. 8 seed, was beaten 2 and 1 by Jennifer Johnson, the No. 57 seed. No. 9 seed Lincicome was ousted 2 and 1 by No. 56 Ryann O’toole. The 20thseeded Wie was knocked out by No. 45 Mina Harigae, 3 and 2.
Ryan Palmer shot a bogeyfree 6-under 64 to take the firstround lead in the PGA’S Byron Nelson Championship in Irving, Texas, a year after losing a playoff to Keegan Bradley in the event. Marc Leishman and Alex Cejka were a stroke back.
Tony Parker scored 22 points on his 30th birthday as the host San Antonio Spurs beat the fading Los Angeles Clippers 105-88, pushing their winning streak to 16 and taking a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series.
