GOOD, CLEAN, DIRTY FUN
MUDDER’S DAY
Khad an idea. The Lake County Fair Association board president went up to Johnson Creek, Wis., a year ago and participated in the Dirty Girl Mud Run. It’s a 5K obstacle course — and it’s all done in the mud.
So as Kepler-Yarc was running in the event in a driving rainstorm, she thought it would be a great idea to try something like this in Lake County at the Fairgrounds.
Her idea went better than expected.
“We had to add another day because we had 6,500 sign up for the first day, and we already have 1,000 for the second day,” KeplerYarc said. “We wanted to do some kind of race [this summer], and this makes it fun because it isn’t timed. Anyone can do it.”
The first Dirty Girl Mud Run in Lake County will take place June 30 and July 1 at the Lake County Fairgrounds. There’s a $65 entry fee, and 2.5 percent of the proceeds go toward the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The minimum age to participate is 14, but those under 18 must have a parent/guardian accompany them to register.
There’s a catch, though: It’s for women only.
“This is geared to all women, and it’s not like the obstacles are dangerous,” Kepler-Yarc said. “The best advice I can give is not to be intimidated by it.”
