Victim’s brother accused of threats Shooting of boy, 14, leads to charges

On the night that former Chicago Public Schools basketball star Michael Haynes was gunned down, his younger brother allegedly threatened to shoot four people, according to police.

Brian Haynes, 21, appeared in bond court Saturday and faces four counts of home invasion with the discharge of a firearm, Chicago Police said Saturday.

A Cook County judge ordered Haynes held in lieu of $250,000 bail, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.

Haynes allegedly threat- ened to shoot the four people in the 1116th block of South Vincennes at 10:34 p.m., about six hours after his brother was pronounced dead, police said.

W i l l i a m Davis, 27, was arrested and charged Saturday with a Class 4 felony for leaving the scene of an accident and a Class 2 felony for failing to report an accident with a serious injury, police said in a statement.

Davis, of the 4600 block of West Adams, was also cited for driving with a suspended license and failure to take due care for pedestrian­s on the roadway, the statement said.

Davis is accused of striking a woman with a vehicle he was driving Wednesday night on the West Side.

Just after 9 p.m., the woman was crossing Lake at Pulaski, police spokesman John Mirabelli said, while the car was making a right turn onto Pulaski from Lake.

The car struck the woman and kept going south on Pulaski, Mirabelli said.

The woman, who suffered injuries to her head and both legs, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, police said.

A 19-year-old man was ordered held without bond after he was charged with the shooting of a 14-year-old boy late Thursday in the Englewood neighborho­od.

Lashawn Bilbro, 19, was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery for the shooting in the 6700 block of South Carpenter at 11 p.m. Thursday. The victim was shot in the shoulder and abdomen and was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in serious condition, officials said.
