BADGERS BOW OUT

Henderson finds his touch to carry Mississippi

-

Marshall Henderson shook out of a shooting slump and scored 17 points in the second half, leading Mississippi past Wisconsin 57-46 on Friday in Kansas City, Mo., and giving the Rebels their first NCAA tournament win since 2002.

For the cold-shooting Badgers (2312), the upset loss snapped a string of six consecutive first-game victories. Ole Miss (27-8) trailed 25-22 at halftime, and Henderson, who led the SEC with 20 points per game, had two points on 1-for-11 shooting.

But the flamboyant and outspoken guard found his touch just in time and wound up hitting 6 of 21. His back-toback three-pointers tied it at 36, and his layup and two free throws in the final minute sealed the victory.

Sam Dekkar led Wisconsin with 14 points.

La Salle 63, Kansas State 61

Jerrell Wright, who scored a gamehigh 21 points, made three foul shots in the final 30 seconds, and La Salle (22-9) survived after blowing an 18-point halftime lead to beat Kansas State (27-8) in Kansas City, Mo.

The Wildcats had one last chance, but Angel Rodriguez got hung up in the corner by the Kansas State bench, and his off-balance shot over the corner of the backboard missed everything.

Ohio State 95, Iona 70

Deshaun Thomas had a game-high 24 points and Sam Thompson career highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds as Ohio State (27-7) thrilled its large contingent in Dayton with its most points this season against Iona (20-14).
