Mom: Accused teacher ‘has ruined our life’
The mother of one of the alleged victims of Hammond, Ind., high school teacher Jon Erik Lilly said his actions have split her family in two.
“I’m losing my daughter over it,” the woman said. “He has ruined our life and now he has ruined other people’s lives.”
Lilly, 27, of Cedar Lake, Ind., was arrested Wednes- day after federal law enforcement officials discovered he had sex with the woman’s daughter, identified in the probable cause affidavit as Jane Doe 1, and persuaded at least four other of his students at Morton High School to text him photos of themselves in various stages of undress.
The mother says she had suspected for several months that her daughter, Jane Doe 1, was having sex with someone after she discovered messages on Jane Doe 1’s Twitter feed about missing someone and lying in their arms. She had no idea that person was the girl’s teacher until school officials called her on Feb. 5.
