JORDAN TIES THE KNOT WITH PRIETO
Michael Jordan has finally married Yvette Prieto after applying for a marriage license in March.
The all-time Bulls great, 50, and Prieto, 35, got married Saturday afternoon in Palm Beach, Fla., at the Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, “a massive Gothic revival building in the heart of the ritzy island,” The Miami Herald reported.
In 2005, Donald Trump married Melania Knauss at the same church.
About 2,000 guests attended the Jordan service — with singer Usher performing — and 1,500 attended a reception at the Bears Club, a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course in Jupiter, Fla, where Jordan has built a $20 million, 37,000-plus-squarefoot home, Radaronline reported. Other reports said a mere 500 guests were at the church service.
“They’ve been planning for months and months,” People.com quoted a source as saying. “He wanted to give Yvette everything she’s ever wanted.”
And who attended the wedding?
“Among the dozens of relatives, friends and business associates of Jordan’s were other aging basketball stars, including former New York Knicks big man Patrick Ewing and former Chicago Bulls Scottie Pippen, Ron Harper and Toni Kukoc, as well as NBA TV announcer Ahmad Rashad,” The Miami Herald reported.
It said Jordan wore a black tuxedo, and Prieto “wore an ivory dress with a six-foot train, while eight maids of honor wore gray.”
Jordan “waved at fans behind a barricade when his motorcade pulled up about 4 p.m.,” The Herald reported. “He gave a ‘thumbs-up’ from inside a black Escalade as two dozen bystanders kept at bay by heavy security and off-duty local cops congratulated him.
“Prieto, meanwhile, was ushered in to the church by seven men who held white umbrellas to shield her from paparazzi.”
The tent for the wedding was 40,000 square feet, Vibe. com reported.
Jordan, now the majority owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats, and Prieto, a model, got engaged in 2011. They’d dated since 2008 after meeting at a Miami club. They live outside Miami.
Jordan and his first wife, Juanita Vanoy Jordan, divorced in 2006 after 17 years of marriage. They have three children: sons Jeffrey Jordan, who’s 24, and Marcus Jordan, 22, and a daughter, Jasmine Jordan, 19.
