Syracuse has it all for Moskal

What does Lake Zurich’s Colton Moskal like about Syracuse? Pretty much everything.

Moskal, a rising senior who’s one of the Chicago area’s top linebackers in the Class of 2014, has committed to the Orange for a number of reasons.

‘‘Definitely the coaches and their relationship with one another was huge,’’ Moskal said. ‘‘They’ve been together for a while. Definitely the campus. I love the campus. The [Carrier] Dome obviously and the fans. They all play a big role in it. Then the players already there making it feel like a family atmosphere. That was very important to me.”

Moskal also had offers from Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Cincinnati and several other programs.

Johnson to Ball State

St. Charles North tight end Garrett Johnson knew after a visit to Ball State that it was time to commit.

‘‘I really love the campus, the coaches are great people, and I can really tell that they want me as a part of their team,’’ Johnson said. ‘‘I really like their tight end coach [Joey Lynch], and I just feel that my game fits very well into their system.’’

The 6-5, 240-pound prospect had offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan in addition to Ball State.

‘‘Ball State fans can expect a player who is sure-handed and reliable as well as committed to the team and determined to win,’’ Johnson said.

Toledo lands two

A pair of teammates from Downers Grove North, linebacker Richard Olekanma and defensive end Vontae Diggs, gave oral commitments to Toledo.

‘‘I am really excited. Toledo is a great school and program,” Olekanma said. ‘‘Committing felt really good, the coaching staff really liked me, and I liked the school a lot. So to me, it was a nobrainer.’’

Diggs and Olekanma committed within minutes of each other.

‘‘We both talked about how nice it would be to play together at the next level, so it was a factor in the decision,’’ Olekanma said.

Hoosiers like Nagel

Just days after receiving his first offer from Illinois, rising junior receivyer Flynn Nagel of Marist picked up an offer from Indiana after attending the Hoosiers’ camp.

‘‘I was able to really relate well with the coaches, and they were very complimentary about my routes and ability,’’ Nagel said. ‘‘Plus, the offense that they run is a spread, which is very similar to Marist.’’

He added, ‘‘ The camp overall went really well. I like camping at different places, and the coaches just said be patient after camp.’’
