Festival of the Lakes

One of the top three festivals in Northwest Indiana, the 5- day, 6-night event, based at Wolf Lake Memorial Park, highlights Wolf Lake, Lake Michigan and George Lake.

Held each July, the festival offers food and entertainm­ent geared to the melting pot that is Northwest Indiana.

Annual anchor musical events of the festival include Latin, R&B, and Hip Hop entertainm­ent. Past years have also featured Country music and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra.

Festival staples are: Seniors Only Day, Special Persons’ Day for those with special needs, Beer Garden, Hot Rod & Custom Car Show, Polka Party, Golf Scramble, Fishing Derby, the Mayor’s 5K Walk/Run and children’s stage activities.

The huge carnival has rides for all ages, plus games and food. Outside the carnival are food vendors offering up their best ethnic fare. Visitors are treated to fireworks displays Friday and Saturday nights. The Hammond Marina also offers free pontoon boat rides during the festival.
