Suzy Singh & Amit Wadehra

- BY KATERINA BI ZI OS

Suzy Singh demonstrated her flair for food as one of the final four contestants on season two of Fox’s “MasterChef.” But when she needed help finding a mate, she turned to Chicago’s Bela Gandhi, founder of Smart Dating Academy. “I told her my life story,” says Singh. “She helped me open up to the idea of someone unexpected being the one. I joined Match.com and met Amit [ Wadehra] shortly after.” Three years later, the chef married Wadehra, paying homage to her culinary prowess by throwing three foodfilled, traditional Indian celebrations: Mehndi and Sangeet on July 31 and Aug. 1, followed by the wedding itself on Aug. 3, where guests feasted on a five-course, French-inspired dinner featuring items like French onion soup with a Rasam twist (a South Indian soup), traditional Indian artisinal bread and individual cakes layered with white ganache and chocolate raspberry (Singh’s favorite). Over the course of the three-day affair, Singh donned three embellished gowns, each custommade and flown in from India.

Fifteen bridesmaids, 10 groomsmen, 10 flower girls, two ring bearers and 550 guests were on hand for the elaborate nuptials, which began at 10 a.m. and lasted until 3 a.m. — and Singh threw it all together in just six months. Here are the highlights:

?? ?? “We had more than 250 guests in the backyard of my parents’ house for Sangeet. This is where the two families come together and really get to know each other.”

?? ?? “We created a signature cocktail called the Dreamsicle, made with vanilla beans, vanilla and orange vodka, fresh squeezed orange juice and orange Fanta. We both love orange, and it’s the traditional color of Mehndi.”
