Shocking child porn arrest

Sneed has learned Terry Meagher, 44, a 20-year investigator for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for manufacturing, producing and transporting child pornography.

Meagher was arraigned Tuesday and released on a $250,000 bond after pleading not guilty. He is represented by attorney Tom Breen.

Sneed reported last May a Cook County investigator had been stripped of his duties pending an FBI child pornography probe after the feds showed up at his home armed with a search warrant to seize computer files.

Word is the feds have been working on the case for more than a year, and the state’s attorney’s office cooperated fully with the federal investigation, a source said.

Meagher, who is married with children and was not a member of the state’s attorney’s child porn unit, surrendered voluntarily a few days ago.
