Richie Ramone brings tour to Chicago

-

He still goes by the name Richie Ramone some 25 years since he left that iconic New York punk band. But really, “Who’d want to forget that?” the 56-year-old ponders of the legacy that makes its presence known even now on his debut solo album “Entitled” (released last October) and first U.S. tour in 22 years. On the album, the drummer of the band from 1983-88 (the only one to ever sing lead vocals and compose songs) includes four reworked classics including the ’87 hit “I’m Not Jesus,” which he penned about his Catholic upbringing in New Jersey. There are also eight originals, such as “I Know Better Now,” which is about “those B.S. lessons your parents teach you as a kid.” Ramone headlines the Mayne Stage Thursday night. —Selena Fragassi
