Bibbs in a rush to enter NFL
Ex-Plainfield North RB had two years of eligibility left
Every time Kapri Bibbs sees the NFL’s shield, he assigns each letter a word: “Not For Long.”
If you’re wondering why the former Plainfield North star entered the NFL draft despite having two years of eligibility left, that’s it, in three words.
“I know I have to get it while it’s good,” he said at the NFL Scouting Combine.
He’s healthy, and it’s hard to argue with Bibbs’ production: He broke Colorado State records with 1,741 rushing yards, 31 rushing touchdowns and 186 points last season, his only year there.
No one in the nation scored more rushing touchdowns or points.
The 5-9, 212- pounder’s 4 . 6 7 - second 40-yard dash was middle-ofthe-pack, but his 24 reps on the bench press were third-best among running backs.
Bibbs has flown under the radar since leaving Plainfield North, where he rushed for 4,210 yards and 61 touchdowns over his last two seasons.
He committed to CSU out of high school but was ruled academically ineligible. After not playing football at Fort Range Community College, he logged one season with Snow College. Despite his star turn last season, he was not allowed to give media interviews because of team rules.
He was draft-eligible because he was three years removed from high school.
Bibbs is projected to go in the late rounds, but he could end up a free agent — and would like to join the Bears, who could use a reserve running back or two. “Almost like a LeBron [James] and Cleveland thing,” he said. “It’ll be like a Kapri Bibbs- Chicago
