Lieberman, David A.
(August 1, 1928 - April 9, 2014) Husband of Lois and the late Vera; father of Kurt (Lisa), Karl (Susan), Keith (Sharon) and Karen (Sven) Peterson, Jill Daskalakis, Diane (Greg) Ichihashi and Leah (Mark) Casner; grandfather of David (Amber), Jason, Mary Rose, Sara Grace, Elizabeth and Jonathan Lieberman and Austin and Kyle Peterson, Daniel, Joshua and Diane Casner, Lauren (Evan) Cole and Katie Miller; brother of Esther (Bob) Manewith and son of the late Sylvia and Barney Lieberman.
A memorial service for Dave will be held on June 7th at 2:00 p.m. in the King Home at 1555 Oak Avenue Evanston, IL 60201. Contributions in Dave’s memory may be sent to Interfaith House via www.interfaithhouse.org or 3456 W. Franklin Blvd., Chicago, IL 60624.
Dave was born in Chicago and graduated from Eugene Field Elementary School, Sullivan High School and the Illinois Institute of Technology (Electrical Engineering). He received a Masters of Science from Northwestern University. Dave’s professional career included jobs with Askania Regulator, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Welch Scientific, and Soil-Test. Dave retired 20 years ago after managing the operations of Premium Plastics, Inc., where he was Executive Vice President. He belonged to two honorary engineering societies: Eta Kappa Nu and Sigma Xi.
Keeping busy in retirement, he joined the Executive Service Corps where he provided valuable guidance to a number of non-profit and charitable organizations. Dave was a 38-year resident of Wilmette before moving to a retirement community in downtown Evanston. He was an active member, leader and teacher at the Lake Shore Unitarian Church. As a longtime and original board member for Interfaith House, whose mission is to assist injured homeless adults rebuild their lives, Dave helped oversee the growth of this social-service agency to a strong and enduring organization.
