Pinch hitter Justin Morneau capped a fourrun eighth inning with a two-run double, and the Colorado Rockies finished off a three-game sweep with an 8-7 victory against the host San Francisco Giants. Giants catcher Buster Posey left the game after taking a foul ball off his mask in the fourth.

Nick Swisher led off the 11th inning with a home run, and the visiting Cleveland Indians salvaged a split of their four-game series against the Boston Red Sox with a 3-2 victory.

Derek Norris and Coco Crisp hit three-run homers, and the host Oakland Athletics opened a 10-run lead after four innings before coasting to a 10-5 victory against the New York Yankees.
