UN chief chastises Netanyahu
U. N. Secretary- General Ban Ki- moon chastised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday over the issue of Jewish settlements and challenged him to show “leadership” and make compromises for peace. Ban denounced Israel’s latest construction move as a “clear violation of international law,” referring to an announcement two weeks ago that plans had been approved for the construction of some 2,500 homes in Givat Hamatos. “This is the time for leadership Mr. Prime Minister— for the resumption of talks— for an end to polarization. There is not a moment to lose,” Ban said.
