49ers rally behind big game by Kaepernick

-

Colin Kaepernick passed for 343 yards and three touchdowns, and the visiting San Francisco 49ers erased an early 14- point deficit on their way to a 31- 17 victory against the St. Louis Rams on ‘‘ Monday Night Football.’’

The 49ers ( 4- 2) fell behind 14- 0 after the first quarter before hitting their stride. They got a 54- yard field goal from Phil Dawson and an 80- yard touchdown pass from Kaepernick to Brandon Lloyd to pull to 14- 10 at the half, then got scoring passes of 11 yards from Kaepernick to Anquan Boldin and 32 yards from Kaepernick to Michael Crabtree in the third quarter to take control.

The Rams ( 1- 4) trailed 24- 17 and had a chance to force overtime with a touchdown, but Dontae Johnson intercepted a pass by Austin Davis and returned it 20 yards for the clinching touchdown in the last minute.

The 49ers’ defense sacked Davis five times and allowed one first down on the Rams’ first six possessions of the second half.
