Truck parking lot is better site for George Lucas Museum
Re: “A good [Lucas Museum] lakefront debate is welcomed” [Editorial, Friday]: Since when does a federal court case involve public participation?
If the State of Illinois is the controlling owner of the land, Madigan/Cullerton/any governor can act faster than you can blink to empower the City of Chicago. Public participation isn’t needed in Springfield, either.
What you should be pointing out is that Mr. Lucas is not in a power position right now. He may have the money, but only one city in the United States is going to want his museum now that we have seen a design— Las Vegas.
The truck parking lot south of McCormick Place also has a lakefront view. Why not promote that location instead? It’s awin-win choice.

Mind your own business
I laugh when I see suburbanites weighing in on Chicago issues, such as the woman from Skokie who sent a letter regarding the Lucas Museum moving Chicago forward.
She has the nerve to say “our” when she should be saying “your.”
These suburbanites should mind the business in their own back yard and stay out of Chicago issues. If you want to concern yourself with our Chicago issues, then you should move here.

Faulty logic
Following Ald. Edward Burke’s (14th) logic regarding safety concerns with medical marijuana dispensaries, inciting fear of these facilities using crime statistics and sordid stories of violence, let’s reconsider allowing those other dangerous businesses like banks, jewelry stores, fast food establishments and pharmacies into our neighborhoods too.
